Monica Seles Autographs
Monica Seles, born on December 2, 1973, in Yugoslavia (now Serbia), is one of the greatest female tennis players in history. She burst onto the professional scene at age 16, winning her first Grand Slam title at the 1990 French Open. Seles quickly dominated women's tennis, capturing eight Grand Slam titles before turning 20 and holding the world No. 1 ranking for 178 weeks.
Seles's career took a tragic turn on April 30, 1993, when she was stabbed by a deranged fan during a match in Hamburg, Germany. The attack forced her to take a two-year hiatus from tennis. Despite this setback, Seles made a remarkable comeback, winning the 1996 Australian Open - her ninth and final Grand Slam title. She continued to compete at a high level, earning a bronze medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
Throughout her career, Seles won 53 singles titles and was known for her powerful two-handed strokes and on-court grunting. She officially retired in 2008 at the age of 34, having last played professionally in 2003. Seles was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2009, cementing her legacy as one of the sport's all-time greats.
