Michal Neuvirth is a Czech former professional ice hockey goaltender who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for ten seasons. He was born on March 23, 1988 in Usti nad Labem, Czechoslovakia. Neuvirth began his hockey career in his native country before moving to North America to pursue his dream of playing in the NHL. Neuvirth played for the Washington Capitals for six seasons before being traded to the Buffalo Sabres in March of 2014. He spent a year in Buffalo before signing with the Philadelphia Flyers in 2015. Neuvirth played for the Flyers for four seasons, but his tenure with the team was plagued by injuries. Despite this, he played a crucial role in the Flyers' playoff run in the 2015-2016 season. In September 2019, Neuvirth signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs, but retired from professional hockey in January 2020.

Throughout his NHL career, Michal Neuvirth was known for his agility, quick reflexes, and strong glove hand. He earned several accolades, including being named the NHL Rookie of the Month in February 2011 and being a member of the Czech Republic national team at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Neuvirth was widely regarded as one of the best backup goaltenders in the NHL, and his calm, composed demeanor helped him remain an effective goalie despite often being thrust into high-pressure situations.
