Aaron Cook is a former professional baseball player who spent 12 seasons in the Major Leagues as a starting pitcher. He was born on February 8, 1979, in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and grew up in Hamilton, Ohio. Cook was a standout athlete in high school, excelling in both baseball and football. After graduating, he was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the second round of the 1997 MLB draft.
Cook made his MLB debut with the Rockies in 2002 and quickly established himself as a reliable starter. He spent ten seasons with the team, earning the reputation as a ground ball specialist due to his ability to induce batters to hit the ball on the ground. Cook enjoyed his best season in 2008, when he won 16 games and was named an All-Star for the first time in his career. He finished his tenure with the Rockies with a record of 72-68 and an ERA of 4.53.
After leaving the Rockies, Cook spent time with several other teams, including the Boston Red Sox, Philadelphia Phillies, and Seattle Mariners. He retired from professional baseball in 2015 with a career record of 76-79 and an ERA of 4.60. Cook's legacy as a pitcher was defined by his ability to throw strikes and keep the ball on the ground, which made him a valuable asset to any team he played for.
