Alcides Escobar is a retired Venezuelan professional baseball player who was born on December 16, 1986. He played at the shortstop position and began his professional career in 2003 with the Milwaukee Brewers, where he spent his first five seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB). In 2010, he was traded to the Kansas City Royals, where he played for seven seasons, earning a reputation as a reliable shortstop and a skilled hitter. Escobar began his baseball career playing in his native Venezuela, where he caught the attention of the Milwaukee Brewers scouts.
