Andrew Wiggins is a Canadian professional basketball player who has become a household name in the world of basketball. Born on February 23, 1995, in Toronto, Wiggins was a superstar high school athlete, garnering attention from top universities across the United States. Wiggins went on to play basketball for the University of Kansas, where he broke several records, including the most points scored by a freshman in a single season. After one year at Kansas, Wiggins declared for the NBA draft, where he was selected first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Wiggins started his professional basketball career playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2014. During his rookie season, he quickly established himself as a scoring threat, averaging 16.9 points per game and winning the Rookie of the Year award. Wiggins continued to improve in his second season, averaging 20.7 points per game and earning a spot in the Rising Stars Challenge. Wiggins continued to make strides in his career, earning a five-year, $147 million contract extension in 2017.
While his individual success is notable, Wiggins is also a valuable member of any team he plays for. In 2020, Wiggins joined the Golden State Warriors and quickly established himself as an excellent two-way player. He became a valuable scoring option while also showing athleticism and versatility on defense. With his raw talent and work ethic, it is no surprise that Andrew Wiggins continues to be a standout performer in the NBA.
