Carlos Zambrano is a retired professional baseball player who represented Venezuela in international competitions. Born in Puerto Cabello, Venezuela, on June 1, 1981, Zambrano began his professional career with the Chicago Cubs in 2001, where he played for 11 years. Zambrano was known for his aggressive playing style and his versatility as a pitcher. During his career, he had played as a starter, a closer, and as a reliever. Zambrano was a three-time All-Star, and he received the National League Silver Slugger Award in 2006 for his excellent hitting.
