After being traded to Seattle Mariners in 1993, Wilson established himself as the team's starting catcher. He played for the Mariners for eight seasons, during which he was named an All-Star in 1996 and won two American League Gold Glove Awards (1996 and 1998). With his accurate arm and outstanding pitch-calling skills, Wilson helped guide the Mariners to multiple playoff appearances during his tenure with the team.

After retiring from professional baseball in 2005, Wilson remained involved in the sport, working as a special assistant to the General Manager of the Mariners. Additionally, he was a member of the coaching staff of the United States baseball team in the 2017 World Baseball Classic. Throughout his career, Dan Wilson was widely regarded as one of the best catchers in baseball and left a lasting impact on the game.
