Coles had a decent MLB career with a batting average of .245 and 75 home runs in 957 games played. He was known for his fielding skills, especially in the outfield, where he was a reliable and skilled defender. Coles played in four post-season series, helping the Detroit Tigers win the 1984 World Series. He also led the Milwaukee Brewers to the post-season in 1987, where he hit two home runs in their series against the Boston Red Sox.
