Wally Joyner

Wally Joyner was born on June 16, 1962, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was an outstanding baseball player during his high school days, and he helped his team to win the state championship in 1979. Joyner went on to attend Brigham Young University, where he continued to pursue his passion for baseball. Joyner's professional career began in 1986 when he made his debut for the California Angels. He quickly established himself as one of the most promising young players in the league, and he earned a spot as a first baseman in the All-Star Game in his first season. Joyner went on to help the Angels to win the American League West title that year, and he was named the American League Rookie of the Year. Over the course of his career, Joyner played for several major league teams, including the San Diego Padres, Kansas City Royals, and Atlanta Braves. He amassed over 2,000 hits, 204 home runs, and 1,106 RBIs in his career.

After retiring from baseball in 2001, Joyner spent several years coaching in the minor leagues, and he also worked as a hitting coach for several major league teams, including the San Diego Padres and Detroit Tigers. In 2013, Joyner was named the assistant hitting coach for the Philadelphia Phillies, a position he held until 2015.
