Stieb played for the Toronto Blue Jays from the beginning of his career in 1979 to 1992. He established himself as one of the premier pitchers in the league during his tenure with the Blue Jays. Stieb recorded five All-Star selections and won a Silver Slugger award in 1982. He was also a top-three finisher in the American League Cy Young Award race three times, in 1982, 1983, and 1984.

Stieb is widely regarded as one of the best pitchers in the Blue Jays' history. He holds the team's record for most wins, strikeouts, and innings pitched. He retired with a record of 176-137, an ERA of 3.44, and 1,658 strikeouts. Stieb was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2011, and his No. 37 was retired by the Toronto Blue Jays in 1998. Despite missing out on being elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame, Dave Stieb had a hugely successful career in the MLB, and his contribution to the game remains an inspiration to many young players.
