Edgar Renteria is a retired Colombian professional baseball player who enjoyed a 16-year career in the Major Leagues. Renteria began his career with the Florida Marlins in 1996, where he won the National League Rookie of the Year award the following season. In addition to his success with the Marlins and Cardinals, Renteria played for several other teams during his career including the San Francisco Giants, Detroit Tigers, and Boston Red Sox. Throughout his career, Renteria was known for his exceptional defense at shortstop and his clutch hitting in key moments. He is the only player in history to record the game-winning hit in two different World Series clinching games, earning him the nickname "Mr. Clutch."

In 2018, Renteria was inducted into the Caribbean Baseball Hall of Fame in recognition of his contributions to the sport. He remains a beloved figure in Colombia, where he is widely considered one of the greatest baseball players in the country's history. Renteria retired from baseball in 2011 and now serves as a mentor and coach to young baseball players, continuing to give back to the sport that brought him so much success throughout his career.
