Frank RobinsonFrank Robinson was an American baseball player and manager who was a trailblazer in the sport. Born in Beaumont, Texas in 1935, Robinson began his professional baseball career in 1953 at the age of 18 when he was signed by the Cincinnati Reds. Robinson quickly rose through the ranks, earning his place as a Major League Baseball player in 1956. Robinson was known for his exceptional talent as a power hitter and was an 14-time All-Star throughout his career.
In 1961, Robinson made history when he became the first African-American to be named the Most Valuable Player in the American League while playing for the Baltimore Orioles.
