George Kell was an American professional baseball player who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) primarily as a third baseman. Kell was born in Swifton, Arkansas, in 1922, and grew up playing baseball with his siblings. Kell played for several teams throughout his career, including the Detroit Tigers, the Boston Red Sox, and the Chicago White Sox. He was known for his consistent hitting and solid defense, and was a ten-time All-Star during his 15-year career. In 1949, Kell led the American League in batting with a .342 average and earned a reputation as one of the game's best hitters.
