Jack Wilson Autograph

Jack Wilson was a former American professional baseball player who played as a shortstop in Major League Baseball for 12 seasons. Born on December 29th, 1977, in Westlake Village, California, Wilson played baseball at his high school, Thousand Oaks High School, where he was the team's leadoff hitter and an excellent fielder. After high school, Wilson was picked by the St. Louis Cardinals in the ninth round of the 1998 MLB draft and signed a contract with the Cardinals. He spent two seasons in the minor leagues before being traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2000 as a part of a six-player deal. More about Jack Wilson

Jack Wilson played with the Pittsburgh Pirates for nine seasons, during which he became one of the most reliable and skillful defensive shortstops in the league. He earned numerous accolades for his excellence in playing shortstop, including the National League Gold Glove Award for fielding excellence in 2004 and 2005. Wilson's batting was also impressive, and he hit .308 in 2004, leading the team with 201 hits. Wilson had one of his best seasons in 2007, hitting .296 with nine home runs and 75 RBIs, and leading the league in multiple fielding categories. He represented the Pirates in the All-Star Game in 2004, where he reached the highest point of his career.

After nine seasons with the Pirates, Jack Wilson was traded to the Seattle Mariners in 2009. He played with the Mariners for two seasons before being traded to the Atlanta Braves for the remainder of the 2011 season. Wilson then played the final games of his career with the Braves in 2012. In his 12-year career, Wilson accumulated a .265 batting average, recorded 61 home runs, and 426 RBIs. He was highly regarded for his abilities as a fielder, having posted a career fielding percentage of .977. After his playing career, Wilson remained active in baseball, coaching youth teams and working as a consultant for several organizations.
