Jared Sullinger is an American former professional basketball player who had a promising baseball career before focusing on basketball. He was born on March 4, 1992, in Columbus, Ohio, and grew up playing both basketball and baseball. Sullinger developed his love for baseball from his grandfather, who played for the Cincinnati Reds farm team.
In high school, Sullinger excelled in both basketball and baseball. He was named the Gatorade National Basketball Player of the Year twice in a row and was also an All-American baseball player. In his senior year, Sullinger was rated as the second-best basketball player and the 22nd best baseball player in the country by ESPN.
Despite his success in baseball, Sullinger eventually chose to focus on basketball and attended Ohio State University. He played for the Buckeyes for two years before being drafted into the NBA by the Boston Celtics. Although he never pursued his baseball career, Sullinger's passion for the sport never faded. He often cited baseball as his first love and stated that he had considered playing professionally had he not pursued basketball.
