Jason Hammel Autographs
Jason Hammel is a retired American professional baseball pitcher, born on September 2, 1982, in Greenville, South Carolina. He attended Treasure Coast High School in Port St. Lucie, Florida, and was selected by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 10th round of the 2002 MLB draft. Hammel made his major league debut for the Devil Rays on April 11, 2006, against the Baltimore Orioles.
Hammel played for several teams in his professional career, including the Devil Rays, the Colorado Rockies, the Baltimore Orioles, the Chicago Cubs, the Kansas City Royals, and the Oakland Athletics. He had a career record of 96-114, an ERA of 4.62, and 1,288 strikeouts over 1,628 innings pitched. In 2016, Hammel won the World Series with the Chicago Cubs, pitching in three games during the playoffs. He retired from professional baseball after the 2018 season.
Throughout his career, Hammel was known for his fastball, curveball, and slider. He often struggled with consistency on the mound but was able to put together several strong seasons. In 2012, he had a career-best 3.43 ERA and led the Orioles with 118 strikeouts. Hammel was also active in the community, volunteering with organizations such as the Ronald McDonald House and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
