Joe Carter

Joe Carter was born on March 7, 1960, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and is best known for his impressive baseball career, particularly his clutch home run in the 1993 World Series. Carter attended Wichita State University and was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 1981. He spent his first four seasons in Chicago before being traded to the Cleveland Indians in 1984, where he found his stride as a power hitter. In 1990, he joined the San Diego Padres before being traded to the Toronto Blue Jays in 1991, where he would become a legend. More about Joe Carter

Carter's most memorable moment came on October 23, 1993, in Game 6 of the World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies. In the bottom of the ninth inning with the Blue Jays trailing by a run and the bases loaded, Carter hit a three-run home run to win the game and clinch the championship for Toronto. The iconic moment is still revered today by baseball enthusiasts, as well as people internationally, as the game was broadcast around the world. Carter ended his baseball career in 1998 after 16 exceptional seasons in the MLB.

Throughout his career, Carter was known for his power-hitting abilities as well as his versatility. He played across the outfield and first base, and in 1998, he became the first Blue Jays player to hit 30 or more home runs in three consecutive seasons. Carter was named to five All-Star teams and won two Silver Slugger awards, among other accolades. After retiring from baseball, Carter worked as a television analyst and founded the Joe Carter Classic charity golf tournament in 2010, which raises funds for Children's Aid Foundation and World Vision Canada.
