Johnny Pesky was an American professional baseball player and manager. Born in 1919 in Portland, Oregon, Pesky began his baseball career as a part of the Portland Pilots. He then went on to join the Boston Red Sox in 1942, where he spent the majority of his career playing shortstop and second base. During his career, Pesky was known for his impressive batting skills and speed on the bases.
