Josh JohnsonJosh Johnson is a retired professional baseball pitcher who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for nine seasons. Born on January 31, 1984, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Johnson grew up playing baseball and basketball in his hometown. He attended Jenks High School in Oklahoma and was a star athlete on the school's baseball team. Johnson's impressive performance on the mound caught the attention of scouts, and he was drafted by the Florida Marlins in the fourth round of the 2002 MLB Draft.
After being drafted, Johnson worked his way up through the Marlins' minor league system and made his major league debut in 2005. He quickly established himself as a top young pitcher in the league, earning his first All-Star selection in 2009. Johnson's career highlights include leading the National League in earned run average (ERA) in 2010 and finishing fifth in Cy Young Award voting that same year. Over his career, Johnson had a record of 58-45 with a 3.40 ERA and 915 strikeouts.
Despite his early success, injuries plagued Johnson's career. He underwent Tommy John surgery in 2007 and struggled with shoulder issues in later years. After a few seasons bouncing around different teams, Johnson retired from baseball in 2015 due to ongoing injury problems. Despite his abbreviated career, Johnson remains a beloved figure among baseball fans and is remembered as a fierce competitor and a dominant pitcher when he was at his best.
