Jurickson Profar is a professional baseball player from Curacao. He was born on February 20, 1993, and since a young age, he had an interest in playing baseball. Profar started his baseball career at the age of 16 as a shortstop for the Spokane Indians, a minor league affiliate of the Texas Rangers. He gained popularity when he helped the Dutch team win the 2011 Baseball World Cup, and his name began to be known around the world.
Profar made his Major League Baseball debut on September 2, 2012, at the age of 19 with the Texas Rangers. He played in only nine games in his first season but improved significantly in the next two seasons. Profar gained recognition as one of the most versatile players in the league, playing in multiple positions such as second base, shortstop, and third base. He was considered the future of the Rangers' franchise due to his incredible talent and versatility.
Profar's career hit a roadblock when he suffered a shoulder injury, due to which he would miss the entire 2014 season. However, he made a comeback later in 2015, signing a one-year contract with Oakland Athletics. After a successful stint with Oakland, Profar was traded to the San Diego Padres. He put up impressive numbers in the 2020 season, hitting seven home runs and 25 RBI, which helped the Padres secure their first postseason appearance since 2006. Jurickson Profar continues to be a valuable asset to his team, and his baseball career has been nothing short of remarkable.
