Michael Kay Autographs
Michael Kay is an American sportscaster and television personality, best known for his work as a play-by-play announcer for the New York Yankees on the YES Network. Born on February 2, 1961, in New York City, Kay grew up in the Bronx and attended the Fordham University School of Law, where he received his law degree in 1982. However, he found his true calling in sports broadcasting and began his career in the field as a reporter for the New York Post.
In 1992, Kay began his career as a television broadcaster for the Yankees, working as a sideline reporter and filling in for the team's regular announcer, John Sterling. Over the years, he became a fixture in the broadcast booth, calling some of the team's most memorable moments, including Derek Jeter's "Flip Play" in the 2001 American League Division Series and Aaron Boone's walk-off home run in the 2003 AL Championship Series.
Kay's contributions to baseball broadcasting have been widely recognized, earning him numerous accolades throughout his career. In 2008, he won the New York Emmy Award for Outstanding On-Camera Achievement, Sports Play-by-Play, and has been nominated for the award several times since. He was also awarded the Baseball Hall of Fame's Ford C. Frick Award in 2021, an honor given to broadcasters who have made significant contributions to the game of baseball.
