Michael Pineda is a Dominican-American former professional baseball pitcher. He was born on January 18, 1989, in Yaguate, a town in the Dominican Republic. At the age of 16, Michael was signed by the Seattle Mariners as an international free agent. He made his professional debut in 2006, playing for the Dominican Summer League Mariners.
Michael Pineda made his Major League Baseball debut with the Seattle Mariners in 2011. He quickly established himself as one of the promising young pitchers in the league. In his rookie year, he recorded a 9-10 record with a 3.74 ERA and 173 strikeouts in 171 innings pitched. In 2012, Pineda was traded to the New York Yankees, where he continued to impress on the field. However, he missed the entire 2012 and 2013 seasons due to injury. Despite this setback, he returned in 2014, stronger and healthier than ever, and continued to rack up impressive statistics as a prominent member of the Yankees' pitching rotation.
