In the 2006 MLB Draft, the New York Mets picked Mike as the ninth overall selection, which began his debut in the Major Leagues in 2007. Over the years, he established himself as a reliable starter and pitched in some of the most significant games of his career, including the 2010 NLDS playoffs for the New York Mets. In 2013, Mike underwent Tommy John surgery to repair an ulnar collateral ligament injury.

After his recovery, he signed with the Minnesota Twins and stayed with the team for three seasons. He then went on to play with the Detroit Tigers and the Chicago White Sox before retiring from the sport in 2018. Throughout his baseball career, Mike was an exceptional player and a great teammate, highly respected by his coaches and fellow players.
