Oscar Taveras was a highly talented baseball player born on June 19, 1992, in the Dominican Republic. He began his baseball career in the St. Louis Cardinals organization where he was signed as an international free agent. Taveras quickly rose through the minor league ranks, showcasing his impressive hitting ability and strong outfield play. He made his major league debut on May 31, 2014, against the San Francisco Giants and hit a home run in his second at-bat, thrilling Cardinal fans.
Throughout his baseball career, Taveras was known for his potent bat and strong outfield play. In 2013, he was named the "Minor League Player of the Year" by both Baseball America and USA Today Sports. He was also ranked as the third-best prospect in all of baseball by MLB Pipeline in 2014.
