Throughout his baseball career, Taveras was known for his potent bat and strong outfield play. In 2013, he was named the "Minor League Player of the Year" by both Baseball America and USA Today Sports. He was also ranked as the third-best prospect in all of baseball by MLB Pipeline in 2014. Despite a shortened major league career, Taveras showed flashes of his potential, hitting .239 with three home runs and 22 RBI in 80 games. Sadly, Taveras' life and career were cut short when he passed away in a car accident on October 26, 2014, in the Dominican Republic, where he was playing winter ball.

Taveras' talent and potential were undeniable, and his short but impactful career left an indelible mark on the baseball world. In his honor, the Cardinals created the Oscar Taveras Award, given annually to the team's top rookie. While his passing was a tragedy, Taveras will always be remembered for his electrifying play and as a symbol of hope and potential for young baseball players around the world. His legacy continues to inspire those who knew and followed him, and his impact on the game will never be forgotten. Read even more about Oscar Taveras at Wikipedia
