Hornsby began his professional career with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1915, and he was an instant success. He was a two-time MVP with the Cardinals, leading the league in batting average, home runs, and RBIs in multiple seasons. Hornsby also helped the Cardinals win their first World Series championship in 1926. He was traded to the New York Giants in 1927, and he had a remarkable season, leading the National League with a .361 batting average. He later played for the Boston Braves, Chicago Cubs, and St. Louis Browns before retiring in 1937.

Hornsby had a career batting average of .358, which still ranks second all-time in MLB history. He had seven batting titles and finished his career with 2,930 hits, 301 home runs, and 1,584 RBIs. Hornsby was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1942, and his legacy continues to inspire generations of baseball players.
