Roy White was a highly skilled baseball player who played in Major League Baseball for 15 seasons. Born on December 27, 1943, in Los Angeles, California, White began his professional career in 1962, when he was drafted by the New York Yankees in the second round of the amateur draft. He quickly made a name for himself as a reliable outfielder with an excellent batting record. Over his long career, White played in 1,881 games, hitting 160 home runs and 758 runs batted in (RBIs). Arguably, White's strongest season was in 1970, when he hit .296 with 22 home runs and 94 RBIs. He also played a huge role in the Yankees making it to the World Series that year. Although the Yankees lost the series, White's bat and sensational fielding earned him a reputation as one of the team's most indispensable players. Throughout his career, White garnered numerous accolades, including selection to the AL All-Star team in 1969 and 1970, and being named the Yankees' MVP in 1971.
