Scott Proctor was born on January 2, 1977, in Stuart, Florida, and grew up in a baseball-playing household. His father played semi-professional baseball while his mother coached softball. Proctor began his professional baseball career in 1995 after being drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 13th round of the MLB Draft. He spent several seasons in the minor leagues before making his Major League debut with the Dodgers in 2004. He played for the Dodgers until 2007, and during that time, he gained a reputation as a reliable, hard-throwing relief pitcher. In 2007, Proctor was traded to the New York Yankees, where he continued to pitch effectively until he was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers again, where he ended his career in 2011.
