Skip Schumaker is an American former professional baseball player who primarily played as a second baseman and outfielder. He was born on February 3, 1980, in Torrance, California, and grew up in neighboring Aliso Viejo. Schumaker's passion for baseball started when he was young, and he played for the Aliso Viejo Little League team during his childhood days. Schumaker's professional career began in 2001 when he was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the fifth round of the Major League Baseball draft. He started his career as a second baseman, but he soon established himself as a versatile player, playing in various positions, including the outfield. He made his Major League debut with the Cardinals in May 2005, and soon became a vital part of the team. Schumaker played nine seasons for the Cardinals, during which he won two National League championships, in 2006 and 2011, and was a fan favorite, known for his solid defense, hustle, and clutch hitting.

After his stint with the Cardinals, Schumaker played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Cincinnati Reds before retiring in 2016. Throughout his career, he posted a .278 batting average, with 28 home runs, and 284 runs batted in. Since retiring, Schumaker has remained in baseball, working as a coach and executive for various teams, including the San Diego Padres and the Seattle Mariners.
