Todd Coffey is a retired American baseball relief pitcher who played for several teams in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 2005 to 2014. He was born on September 9, 1980, in Shelby, North Carolina, and attended Chase High School, where he was a standout baseball player. Coffey was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 41st round of the 1998 MLB draft but decided to attend college at a small university before being drafted again in 1991 by the Reds. Coffey made his debut in the MLB with the Reds in 2005, where he played for six seasons. During his career, he played for the Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres, Washington Nationals, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Philadelphia Phillies. He was known for his hard-throwing abilities, often reaching high-speeds of over 95 mph. Coffey's best season was in 2009 with the Brewers, where he had a 2.90 ERA and a 4-4 record while pitching in 78 games.

Coffey battled injuries throughout his career, specifically, a partially torn UCL in his right elbow, which forced him to undergo Tommy John surgery in July 2012. He signed a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners in 2014 but decided to retire from baseball after failing to make the team. Coffey accumulated a career record of 25-18 with an ERA of 4.10 and 286 strikeouts in 462 innings pitched. Today, Coffey works as a part-time scout for the Reds and spends time with his family.
