Tom Brookens is a former American baseball player, who played as a third baseman for the Detroit Tigers from 1979 to 1988. He was born on August 10, 1953, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, and attended Fairfax High School in Virginia. After graduating, he was drafted by the Tigers in the first round of the 1975 MLB draft. Following his retirement as a player, Brookens became a coach, working for several different organizations, including the Tigers, Pittsburgh Pirates, Cleveland Indians, and Seattle Mariners. He was inducted into the Fairfax High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017. Brookens remains active in baseball and continues to work as an instructor and mentor for young players.
