Tony Conigliaro was born in Revere, Massachusetts on January 7, 1945. It was clear from a young age that baseball was Conigliaro's passion, as he spent all his free time playing and practicing the sport. In 1963, Conigliaro signed with the Boston Red Sox as an amateur free agent, and by the following year, made his major league debut at just 19 years old. Known for his powerful swing, Conigliaro quickly became a fan favorite, hitting 24 home runs and being named the American League's Rookie of the Year.
