Travis d'Arnaud was born on February 10, 1989, in Long Beach, California, and grew up in a baseball-loving family. His father was a former coach and his older brother, Chase d'Arnaud, is also a professional baseball player. Travis was picked 37th overall by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2007 MLB draft, and he spent the first five years of his career in their minor league system, where he quickly established himself as a top catching prospect. In 2012, Travis was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays, where he made his major league debut as a catcher. He spent parts of three seasons with the Blue Jays before being traded to the New York Mets in 2013.
