Kirilenko spent the first ten years of his NBA career playing for the Utah Jazz, where he quickly became known for his versatile playstyle. He was an excellent defender and was nicknamed the "AK-47" for his ability to block and shoot, and he became the first player in NBA history to record a 5x5 (accumulating at least five stats in each category - points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks) twice in a single season. Kirilenko also participated in the NBA All-Star game in 2004 and led the NBA in blocks in the 2004-2005 season.

Kirilenko also played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Brooklyn Nets, and the Philadelphia 76ers before retiring in 2016. His contributions to the Russian national basketball team were also notable. Andrei led Russia to the European Championship in 2007 and the Olympic bronze medal in 2012. Kirilenko will always remain one of the greatest Russian basketball players of all time, and his achievements in the NBA have made him a legend in the sport.
