Brewer is a versatile player who excels at both ends of the court, but he is best known for his defensive skills. His long wingspan, quick footwork, and anticipation make him a disruptive force on the court. Brewer was selected seventh overall by the Timberwolves in the 2007 NBA draft, and he played 7 seasons in Minnesota before being traded to the Houston Rockets in 2014. While playing for the Timberwolves, Brewer recorded career-high stats in points, rebounds, and assists per game. He also set several franchise records, including most steals in a game and most points in a half.

Throughout his professional career, Brewer earned a reputation as a reliable and hardworking player who always gave his best on the court. He won an NBA championship with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011 and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2007 NCAA Final Four. After announcing his retirement from the NBA in 2020, Brewer has remained involved in the sport, coaching and mentoring young players.
