John Starks is a retired American professional basketball player who gained fame for his impressive shooting skills, tenacious defense, and fearless play on the court. Born on August 10, 1965, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Starks attended high school in his hometown before joining Northern Oklahoma Junior College. His outstanding performance earned him a scholarship to Oklahoma State University, where he became a standout player. In 1989, Starks signed with the Golden State Warriors as a free agent but saw limited playing time. He was subsequently traded to the New York Knicks, where he quickly became a fan favorite due to his aggressive style of play. During his eight-year stint with the Knicks, Starks helped the team reach the NBA Finals in 1994 and was known for his clutch shooting, most notably his "Memorial Day Miracle" three-pointer against the Indiana Pacers in the 1995 playoffs.
