Ed McCaffrey is a former professional American football player who was born on August 17, 1968, in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. He attended Stanford University where he was a standout wide receiver from 1986 to 1990. During his college career, he set school records in receiving yards, receptions, and touchdowns. After college, McCaffrey was drafted in the third round of the 1991 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. He played for the Giants for three seasons before being traded to the San Francisco 49ers in 1994. He had a successful season with the 49ers, recording 10 touchdowns and helping the team to win Super Bowl XXIX. In 1995, he signed with the Denver Broncos, where he would spend the remaining nine years of his career. During his time with the Broncos, he won two Super Bowls and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 1998. He retired from the NFL in 2004 with over 500 receptions, 7,000 receiving yards, and 55 touchdowns.

Since retiring from football, McCaffrey has worked as an analyst for ESPN and the NFL Network. He has also been involved in several business ventures and has worked as a high school football coach. His sons, Max, Christian, and Dylan, have all followed in his footsteps and have played college football.
