Joe Morris was an accomplished running back in the National Football League (NFL) during the 1980s. Born on September 15, 1960, in Ayden, North Carolina, Morris played college football for Syracuse University. His breakthrough year came during his senior year in 1981, where he rushed for 1,372 yards and 10 touchdowns, setting several school records. Joe Morris played for the New York Giants from 1982 to 1988. He became a starter in his second year with the Giants, and his running ability helped the team to its first Super Bowl victory in Super Bowl XXI. Morris rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown and had a key catch in the game's opening drive. In 1985, he led the NFL in rushing touchdowns with 21, becoming the first player in 49 years to score 20, or more, touchdowns in a season. He also rushed for 1,516 yards and was named to the Pro Bowl and the All-Pro team that year.
