Jon Beason is a retired American football player who played as a middle linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) for ten seasons. He was born on January 14, 1985, in Miramar, Florida, and attended the University of Miami, where he played college football for the Hurricanes. In 2007, Beason was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the first round and became a key player on their defense over the next six seasons. He was named to the Pro Bowl three times and was named an All-Pro once. Beason also served as a team captain during his time with the Panthers. Injuries plagued Beason's final seasons with the Panthers, and he was traded to the New York Giants in 2013. He played for the Giants for three seasons before retiring in 2016.

Off the football field, Beason is also known for his philanthropic work. He established the Jon Beason Foundation, which helps raise funds for a variety of charitable causes, including cancer research and education. Beason is also involved in several other charitable organizations, such as the Boys and Girls Club of America, and he was named the Panthers' Man of the Year in 2012 for his off-field contributions.
