Taylor played college football at Prairie View A&M University from 1961 to 1964, where he was a standout player. In 1965, he was drafted in the fourth round by the Kansas City Chiefs and quickly became a star in the NFL. He was a powerful and fast player known for his great hands, and he was named to three Pro Bowls during his career, in 1966, 1967, and 1971.

Taylor helped lead the Chiefs to victory in Super Bowl IV in 1970, where he caught a touchdown pass and set a Super Bowl record for yards per reception. He retired from the NFL in 1975 but left an indelible mark on the sport with his impressive career statistics and his achievements as a player. Today, Otis Taylor is recognized as one of the most talented and influential receivers in the history of American football, and his legacy continues to inspire new generations of players.
