Pete Pihos Autographs
Pete Pihos was an American football player born on October 22, 1923, in Orlando, Florida. He attended the University of Indiana where he was a standout football player. He played both defense and offense, earning All-America status in 1944, and was a member of the Hoosiers' 1945 Big Ten Conference championship team.
Pihos was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 1945 NFL draft and played his entire professional career for the team. In his nine seasons with the Eagles from 1947 to 1955, Pihos played tight end and wide receiver. He helped the team secure three NFL championships in 1948, 1949, and 1950, and was named to the Pro Bowl six times.
Pihos retired from football after the 1955 season and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1970. He passed away on August 16, 2011, at the age of 87. In addition to his accomplishments on the field, Pihos was also known for his contributions off the field, including his work with the March of Dimes and the Easter Seals Society.
