Rayfield Wright was born on August 23, 1945, in Griffin, Georgia, USA. He attended Fort Valley State University and began his football career there as a defensive end. However, he switched to the offensive line and quickly became a dominant force. Wright was eventually drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the seventh round of the 1967 NFL draft. Wright was known for his incredible size and speed, standing at 6 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 255 pounds. He was a versatile player who excelled in both pass protection and blocking for the running game. He played in 166 regular season games, starting in 149 of them.
