Sedrick Ellis was born on November 12, 1985, in Chino, California. He attended Chino High School, where he was a standout football player. Ellis was a two-way player in high school, playing as a defensive tackle and offensive lineman. Ellis was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the first round (seventh overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft. He played for the Saints for five seasons and was a member of the team that won Super Bowl XLIV. Ellis played in 70 games for the Saints, recording 173 tackles and 12.5 sacks.
