Shaun King Autographs
Shaun King is a retired American professional football player. Born on May 29, 1977, in St. Petersburg, Florida, he grew up in a football family. King's father, Steve King, was a defensive back and was drafted by the Houston Oilers in 1980. Shaun followed his father's footsteps and played football in high school, earning a scholarship to Tulane University in New Orleans.
King played for the Tulane Green Wave from 1995 to 1998. He set numerous school records, including touchdown passes in a season and completion percentage in a single game. King led Tulane to an undefeated season in 1998 and was named Conference USA Player of the Year. He finished fourth in voting for the Heisman Trophy that year, behind Ricky Williams, Michael Bishop, and Cade McNown.
In the 1999 NFL draft, King was selected in the second round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He started his rookie year as a backup to Trent Dilfer but took over as the starting quarterback when Dilfer was injured. King led the Buccaneers to the playoffs, including a victory over the Washington Redskins in the wild card round, becoming the first rookie quarterback to win a playoff game since Mark Sanchez in 2009. King played in the NFL for five seasons, also playing for the Arizona Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts, before retiring in 2004.
