Johnny Manziel Autographs
Johnny Manziel, also known as "Johnny Football," was born on December 6, 1992, in Tyler, Texas. He attended Tivy High School in Kerrville, Texas, where he played football, baseball, and basketball. Manziel played quarterback for the Tivy Antlers and amassed 4,600 passing yards and 1,500 rushing yards during his high school career.
After graduating from high school in 2011, Manziel committed to Texas A&M University to play college football. Manziel started as a redshirt freshman in 2012 and quickly became one of the best players in the nation. In his first season, Manziel was the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy, which is awarded to the best player in college football. He finished the season with 3,706 passing yards, 1,410 rushing yards, and 47 total touchdowns.
Manziel declared for the NFL draft after his sophomore season in 2013. The Cleveland Browns selected him with the 22nd overall pick in the first round. Manziel struggled in his two seasons with the Browns, appearing in 15 games and throwing for just 1,675 yards with seven touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also had several off-field incidents and battled addiction issues during his time in the NFL. He attempted a comeback in the Canadian Football League, but was eventually released due to his inability to meet the requirements of his contract. Manziel remains a controversial figure in American football, but his impact on the game during his time at Texas A&M cannot be denied.
