Shanahan's hockey career spanned over two decades, during which he became one of the most dominant players of his time. He began his professional career by playing for the New Jersey Devils, the team that selected him second overall in the 1987 NHL Entry Draft. Shanahan quickly established himself as a premier goal scorer, earning four consecutive 40-goal seasons between 1989 and 1993. He later played for the St. Louis Blues, the Hartford Whalers, the Detroit Red Wings, and the New York Rangers, earning numerous accolades such as three Stanley Cup championships, eight All-Star Game appearances, and inductions into the Hockey Hall of Fame and IIHF Hall of Fame.

Off the ice, Brendan Shanahan was known for his tough, physical style of play and his impeccable leadership skills. He served as the president of the Toronto Maple Leafs from 2014 to 2018, where he oversaw the team's operations and played a significant role in their rebuilding efforts. In addition to his work in hockey, Shanahan is also a devoted philanthropist and has established two charitable foundations: the Brendan Shanahan All-Star Golf Classic, which raised funds for various children's charities, and the Shanahan's Summit Series, which brought together former NHL players to play in charity games across Canada. Today, he continues to be a prominent figure in the hockey world and a respected advocate for the sport. Read even more about Brendan Shanahan at Wikipedia
