Chris Chelios Autographs
Chris Chelios is a retired American ice hockey player who is widely regarded as one of the greatest defensemen in NHL history. He was born on January 25, 1962, in Evergreen Park, Illinois, and grew up playing hockey in the Chicago area. Chelios played college hockey at the University of Wisconsin before being drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in 1981. He played for 26 seasons in the NHL and represented the United States in international competitions, earning a reputation as a tough, skilled player throughout his career.
After being drafted by the Canadiens, Chelios began his NHL career in 1983 and quickly established himself as one of the league's best defensemen. He won the Norris Trophy three times, which is awarded to the best defenseman in the NHL, in 1989, 1993, and 1996. He played for the Canadiens until 1990 before being traded to the Chicago Blackhawks, where he spent nine seasons. Chelios then played for the Detroit Red Wings for 10 seasons and won two Stanley Cup championships with the team. He ended his career playing for the Atlanta Thrashers and the AHL's Chicago Wolves.
Chelios also represented the United States in numerous international competitions, including the Olympics in 1984, 1998, 2002, and 2006. He was a member of the US team that won the silver medal in the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City. Chelios was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2013, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest players in the history of the sport. He now serves as an assistant coach for the Detroit Red Wings.
