Robin Lehner is a Swedish professional ice hockey goaltender who has played for various teams in the National Hockey League (NHL) since 2010. He was born in Gothenburg, Sweden, on July 24, 1991, and began his hockey career as a junior player for Frolunda HC in his home country. In 2009, he was featured in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, where he was selected by the Ottawa Senators in the second round, 46th overall.
Lehner made his NHL debut in the 2010-2011 season with the Senators, where he recorded his first career win against the New York Islanders. He played with the Senators for five seasons before being traded to the Buffalo Sabres in 2015. During his tenure in Buffalo, Lehner became a key player for the Sabres, earning the number one goaltender position and consistently performing at a high level. In the 2018-2019 season, he had a career-high save percentage of .930 and was a finalist for the Vezina Trophy, awarded to the NHL's best goaltender.
Lehner has also played for other teams, including the New York Islanders and the Vegas Golden Knights. He has been recognized for his advocacy work, including speaking about his personal struggles with mental health and addiction, and campaigning for better mental health support for athletes.
