Tony Amonte Autographs
Tony Amonte is a former professional ice hockey player from the United States. Born on August 2, 1970, in Hingham, Massachusetts, Amonte began his hockey career at Thayer Academy before moving on to play collegiate hockey for Boston University. In 1988, he was selected by the New York Rangers in the fourth round of the NHL Entry Draft. He spent three seasons in the Rangers organization before being traded to the Chicago Blackhawks in 1994.
Amonte had a standout career with the Blackhawks, spending nearly eight seasons with the team. He was the team's leading scorer for six of those seasons and was named team captain in 1998. During his tenure with the Blackhawks, Amonte was twice named to the NHL All-Star team and helped lead the team to the playoffs five times. In 2002, he was traded to the Phoenix Coyotes, where he played for three seasons before finishing his career with the Calgary Flames in 2007. Amonte retired with 416 goals and 900 points in 1,174 NHL games.
Throughout his career, Amonte was known for his speed and scoring ability. He was a five-time 30-goal scorer and reached the 40-goal mark twice. He represented the United States in several international tournaments, including the 1996 World Cup of Hockey and the 1998 and 2002 Winter Olympics. After retiring from playing, Amonte entered coaching and served as an assistant coach for the USA Hockey National Team Development Program. In 2020, he was named head coach of the Thayer Academy varsity hockey team, where he began his hockey journey many years ago.
