He was born on April 6, 1982, in Stewart Valley, Saskatchewan, Canada. His hockey journey started when he played for the Prince Albert Raiders in the Western Hockey League (WHL) for three seasons, from1999-2002, before he signed with the Calgary Flames in 2002. Moen's professional NHL career started in 2003 when he played for the Chicago Blackhawks before joining the Anaheim Ducks where he won the Stanley Cup in 2007.
