Nancy Reagan Autographs

Nancy Reagan, born Anne Frances Robbins in 1921, became one of the most influential First Ladies in American history. She married Ronald Reagan in 1952, supporting his transition from acting to politics. As First Lady of California from 1967 to 1975, she began her public service work, visiting veterans, the elderly, and children with disabilities. She also became an advocate for the Foster Grandparent Program, which paired seniors with children in need.
When Ronald Reagan was elected President in 1980, Nancy Reagan took on an active role as First Lady of the United States from 1981 to 1989. She launched the high-profile "Just Say No" anti-drug campaign, traveling over 250,000 miles across the U.S. and abroad to promote drug education and prevention. Her efforts culminated in the passage of the "National Crusade for a Drug Free America" act in 1986. Nancy Reagan also became the first sitting First Lady to address the United Nations General Assembly, speaking on international drug interdiction and trafficking laws in 1988.
Behind the scenes, Nancy Reagan was a powerful force in the White House, serving as a trusted advisor to the President. She played a significant role in personnel decisions, including the hiring and firing of senior staff members. Nancy Reagan was also instrumental in encouraging President Reagan to pursue improved relations with the Soviet Union, helping to shape foreign policy during the later years of the Cold War. Her influence and dedication to her husband's presidency left a lasting impact on American politics and the role of the First Lady.
